It is a beautiful day here! 61 degrees, clear, sunny skies and a slight breeze. It’s also Valentine’s Day! (Bet you weren’t aware of that! haha!) It’s simply too beautiful to be stuck inside all day staring at our school work – even though we try to keep school fun around here, it can’t compete with a gorgeous day! Not after all the cloudy, cold and wet days we’ve had lately. No way.
So, we canceled school today! {gasp!}
But, we’re still learning. Today, Dad took the kids outside to clean up the yard, burn the burn pile that has been slowly building over the last few days and, most importantly, to begin work on the TREE HOUSE! My wonderful sister and brother-in-law in North Carolina built a tree house for their three boys. Well, my kids wasted no time in trying to talk their dad into do the same thing. They were so excited when he agreed to do it!
They took advantage of this lovely day to get outside and work on their new project. It will take a few days to complete, but it will definitely be ready by spring. 🙂
Father and son, working hard! 🙂
Dad, pouring concrete mix in the holes.
The older kids brought water for the concrete.
Leslie, admiring the work being done. 🙂
Laci, just enjoying the sun and warm weather.
The work crew, proud of their progress!
Reason I love homeschooling, #424: We can “seize the day” to learn the things that aren’t in school books.
Love it! My kids are still trying to get a tree house. Their dad never wanted one when he was a kid, so they are having to work hard on the “convincing”. Sounds like a perfect day to me.

Wow! What a great project and learning opportunity! That's so nice of Terry to do all that work, and it's good training for the kids. They will have a ball!
Love you,
Mother
