Wisteria Hysteria

I suppose the title of this post sorta gives it all away: I have purple wisteria growing in my back yard! We are nearing our one year anniversary of living in southwest Oklahoma; one year of seasonal changes, one year of extreme weather experiences, one year of memory making. I don’t know if we had just missed seeing the wisteria bloom when we moved in on April 25, 2013, or if, perhaps, it didn’t bloom at all last year? Either way, it was a delightful surprise and it’s made me fall in love with my home and Oklahoma all over again. I’ve been a little crazy about taking photos of it. I’ve been experimenting with different settings on my Nikon, because I’m still very much a novice at photography. These are completely unedited, so some of them look a little washed out. Despite that, I just *have* to share them with someone. Care to take a peek?

Oh good! Thanks! πŸ™‚

These are along the fence in our back yard.

This was mid-morning. I tried to get a good bokeh, or blur, in the background.

Β This was late afternoon, and it’s my favorite! I love the rich color contrast.

Direct sunlight.

Lauren, in the wind.

The photos of the girls were taken late afternoon. The sun was so bright that I had trouble seeing my digital photo to see if it came out okay. I should have used a smaller aperture because these are a tad washed out. If I’d had time, it would have been an easy fix with Photoshop. (I’m lucky to have time to write this post as it is! πŸ™‚ )

Mitchell wasn’t too happy to be photographed with the purple flowers! Haha!

Matthew showed me his “punching stance”. Β He’s all boy!

Spring is here, and it’s been lovely! I’m looking forward to seeing trees and bushes in full bloom and green grass! I got this sign at Ross Dress for Less! πŸ™‚ I love how the glitter sparkles when the sun shines on it…and we have plenty of sun! πŸ˜‰

Thanks for reading!

Foggy Morning

I have enjoyed waking to the mild weather we’ve had the last few days. It reminds me of how the weather would be during the final days of school when I was growing up. The muggy, warm start to the day is a sign that spring has definitely “sprung”. We may still re-laps into some chilly temperatures, but it won’t last for long. I love the winter weather, but I love spring weather, too! I enjoy each season of the year. When one has exhausted itself, I’m ready for the new one to step in.

This morning as I pulled back the drapes, I was surprised to see fog lying peacefully in a huge heap across the street. Of course, I had to get my camera!

I was only outside for about five minutes snapping photos. By the end of that time, the sun’s first rays began melting the fog.

You can practically see it lifting in this photo.

Here, only a tiny ribbon remains near the ground.

Here’s another one of it as it thins out. (Please excuse my neighbor’s truck.)

It was a lovely, pinkish sunrise.

I hope your day is filled with warm breezes and blue skies.

With love,

I can’t thank you enough for taking the time to comment on my last post; it’s always so nice to hear from anyone (yes, even spammers! lol!). I hope I didn’t sound like I was complaining. After I re-read my post, I worried that it might’ve sounded that way. I often blog-hop and don’t comment. It takes time, and time is life, I get it. But, when you do take the time to say a few words of hello, it truly brightens my day. So, again, thank you!

Spring has sprung early around here! We’ve enjoyed some very mild daytime and nighttime temps! Usually, it stays chilly at night at lest until April. Not so this year! I love seeing the world yawn and stretch as she awakens from her winter’s nap! Birds are coming around, flowers are blooming and the weather is neither too hot, nor too chilly! Last year, it started getting up in the 90s and 100s in May. I hope we don’t see the hot weather come that early this year. Time will tell. For now, we are thanking the Lord for the great weather! Here are some photos:

A tree in our front yard is already blooming!Β

God’s handiwork.

Mitchell, using the weed eater for the first time! He did very well!

I believe this was Lauren’s first time to use the weed eater, also. She may have done it one other time, I can’t recall! Surprisingly, the grass was pretty shaggy for this early in the year.

I’m enjoying the sandal weather we’ve had lately! We are supposed to be getting lots of rain the next few days, so we are enjoying the nice weather while we can. Likewise, we should make use of everyday by living for the Lord. We don’t know when it will all be over.
Has spring arrived where you are?Β

Happy May!

I’m so happy to see the month of May arrive! April wasn’t too snappy of a month here. We had several tornado watches, warnings and even some touch downs in parts of our state. We had plenty of cloudy, dreary days. We got some much needed rain, but it came with lots of lightning and thunder, which made sleep difficult. We also had our share of personal trials and storms.

I’m hoping that May will bring sunshine, flowers, fewer allergy problems, and fewer storms, both real and spiritual. However, even in the midst of the storms, God has been very close and for that I’m truly thankful. We felt peace as we beheld the fury outside of our windows – trees swaying, rain beating the windows and thunder shaking the rafters. We also felt peace during the personal trials. We were comforted from His Word, encouraged by friends and uplifted by the prayers of many. If you were praying, thank you!!

May will certainly bring us a few things. We are leaving for a preaching meeting about an hour from here tomorrow. We will get to spend the night with my Mom and enjoy some good preaching at my home church! Also, my sister will be visiting us this coming week!!! She lives in North Carolina, so visits with her are a special treat! What a godly example she is to me and my girls!

Mid-May, we are taking a much needed, long-awaited and long-prayed for vacation! We will be going to Ohio to visit my husband’s family! My kids are so excited to be getting to see Grandma and Granddad! Hubby and I are looking forward to the breather and some new scenery.

On May 17, my sweet Leslie Anne will turn SIX! Where have these years gone…it really doesn’t seem possible. *sigh*

We are also trying to finish up school! I will soon be the mother of a 7th grader, 4th grader and 1st grader. Wow.

I will do my best to blog as often as I can, for the few of you who enjoy reading, but if I’m away for a few days, at least you know why. πŸ™‚

Thank you so very much for being my online friend. Some days, you are my only friends. πŸ™‚

May God bless you and keep you and give a very happy month of May!

Spring Break

It’s hard to believe that our spring break is over! It was a fun week full of nothing spectacular. We didn’t take a trip or do anything special. We enjoyed being together, without the busy-ness of school work on our agenda. The kids spent long hours out of doors, late nights reading, and mornings sleeping in even later! I had a lot of fun working on my blog (scroll to the bottom of my home page to see one of the results of my efforts!), cleaning out closets and wiping out cabinets. I also made some charts (you can read about them here) to make school time and grocery shopping go more smoothly.

We also began work on our bathroom. The main bathroom has needed a face lift for some time now. We are re-painting it and touching up some things. I have taken some before photos, so stay tuned!

All in all, it was a very fun week! I’m thankful that we had no broken bones or trips to the ER! We did have an unspoken prayer request come up, that we would deeply appreciate prayer for, if you think of us.

Here are a few snapshots of the week…I’m afraid I was so busy and out of my “normal” (what’s that?) routine that I didn’t take many photos. Oh! And I recently discovered Picasa photo software! I’ve had a great time playing with it and creating photo collages like the one below. I’ve added some on the “About Me” tab, too!

I hope spring is appearing with her cool breezes and lush beauty wherever you are!
