I struggle with my words. I could write pages on that struggle (ironic?), but nothing talks about words better than God’s Word. The tongue is a little thing, and yet it seems so very big.
1 . Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. ~ James 3:5-6
2. Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. ~ Proverbs 18:21
3. Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer. ~ Psalm 19:14
There are many more passages about this subject, but these are three of my favorites.
Oh, to think of the words I shouldn’t have said! What a battle I have!
Words can inflict such hurt or give such healing. “Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop; but a good word maketh it glad.” Proverbs 12:25
I love you.
