Have you ever known someone who was really smart? I don’t mean someone who knows a lot of facts, but someone who was a genius? All of my friends are very intelligent, ;] but none are geniuses. At least, if they are, they aren’t show offs about it! (So guys, are you? C’mon I can take it. I won’t be jealous or anything. You can tell me.)
My Dad heard Danny Kaye speak once and he said the guy had a photographic memory. When it was his turn to speak, he got up and re-enacted the speech before him, word for word and even made the same movements! That’s a genius!
I’m so glad that I do not have a photographic memory. Otherwise, the verse that jumped out at me wouldn’t have been such a surprise. Because, I’d read it before. I’d even underlined it! But I do not remember it. That’s definitely not a genius! But that’s okay. I love surprises! So here’s the verse that I underlined, but for the life of me don’t remember reading. But I like it. I guess I liked it then. And I can see why. It’s a great verse. (Am I talking to myself??) Wait. Don’t answer that. Here’s the verse!
Psalm 9:10 And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, has not forsaken them that seek thee.
He hasn’t forsaken those that seek after Him! He won’t ever forsake those that seek Him! Now that’s a great verse, isn’t it?
Even a non-genius like me can grasp that.

When God was giving out the genius gene, I wasn't in that pool that is for sure. My husband on the other hand was present. lol He has a photographic memory and than some. Makes me ill. lol
You are not alone my friend. I'll stick to the Sewing for Dummies books and any other Dummies books for that matter any day and save the rest of my mind for good old common sense and sanity! :] I am a hands on kind of person. Watch and do. If I see someone do something I can do it. I can not do that speaking though.
Though a photographic memory would come in really handy in the areas when I am talking to someone and can quote the verse but not the reference. I am horrible when it comes to remembering scripture references. That's why I have the ABC's that I created for myself a few years back in the back of my Bible. Though that doesn't help me when I don't have my Bible present with me. [shrugs] I also saw a yellow pages of references that floated around in e-mails once as well, that I thought was neat.
One of the young men of the church has said that he was going to come up with a game for me, that dealt with mainly working with scripture references.:] That would be nice if it worked for me.
The other area I am terrible in is names. In order for me to remember a visitor at church I have to mentally think of someone else that may have the same name as them to remember it. Or someone else's name that rhymes with it.
For example:
I have had a girl coming to Mini Temples who's name is Knoiya. In order for me to remember it, I have to remember that the first sound of her name is like mine, the middle is like someone is being annoying and the end someone is saying Hey Ya. See what I mean it is very frustrating. You would think it would be much easier to remember a name than have to remember a person or something that is associated with them.
You now know that one of your friends is strange to add to your friends that are intelligent. lol
