We recently had the Daniel Elliott family, missionaries to Mongolia, visit our church. We have supported them for five years now. They were such a blessing to us during their stay; I hated to see them go!

Since we are in the pastorate, we are always looking for ways to keep in touch with our missionaries. Of course, it helps if we can know them personally and can keep in touch with them in more ways than just a bi-monthly letter, if possible. The internet has certainly been a blessing in regards to contacting those across the ocean. Thanks to the world wide web, we can communicate with missionaries on their foreign fields daily, if we want to! It’s also great to receive real mail…you know, the kind that you can actually touch? 🙂 I have often wanted to send care packages to missionaries, but have not known what items they needed, the best way to send said items, or how long it would take.

Well, Bro. Elliott has THIS PAGE on his family’s website, and it is SO helpful! As a pastor’s wife, this information is a tool with which we can be a blessing to our partners around the world. And, as someone famous once said, that’s a good thing. 😉

If you are a missionary, perhaps you would consider adding such a page to your website or blog? It would be so helpful to your supporting churches and friends.

Just a thought. 🙂

Although I've been “lurking” at your blog for quite a while, I don't think I've ever commented. My husband and I are missionaries in British Columbia, Canada, so I was interested in reading your friends' care package page, just to see what type of information was there. After reading that page, I saw the link to the information about their daughter's illness and death. My heart broke as I read about the entire course of Esther's illness. We have dear friends who lost their little boy, around the same age as Esther, to a brain tumor. I want them to read the Elliotts' page and prayer letters in the hope that it will help encourage and strengthen them. I'm so glad you posted their information, so that I would run across their story! I pray that the Lord will continue to strengthen them and bless as they continue furlough and return to the field this summer!

Oh wow! That is a super idea!! I usually just asked them what things they would like that weren't available where they were and did it that way – but the page on their website would be much better & you could be more spontaneous with your giving! 🙂

  3. Hello, Susan! Thank you so much for your comment! The Elliotts were such a blessing…words cannot begin to express how the Lord used them during their brief stay with us. I am so happy to hear that their story will be used to help someone you know. I know the Elliotts would be glad to hear that as well.
Thanks for saying Hi! :)It's good to “meet” you!

I have seen a few missionaries who have done this type of page, but I was always worried that it would seem as though we were asking for things and might come across the wrong way. But if you…as a professional ;)… think it's a good idea, then maybe I will work on doing something like this.

    Have a great day!
