I needed a star of Bethlehem for my nativity scene on my Sunday School bulletin board. I was going to just color one from a coloring book, but then, inspiration struck! I quickly grabbed my journal, to bronze the moment. Okay, not really, but I am bronzing it here. Inspiration doesn’t strike me very often! Perhaps this idea will help other Sunday school teachers out there.
Supplies:
- Coloring book page, or other picture, of a star shape.
- Glue
- Foil
- Scissors
- Ink pen
Directions:
- Place star picture over a piece of aluminum foil.
- With an ink pen, trace around the shape, pressing down firmly to leave an indentation on the foil.
- Remove star picture from foil and cut out the star shape indented in the foil.
- Cut out the original star that you traced.
- Glue foil star on top of the paper star shape to add stability.
- Trim any excess paper showing beneath the foil edges.
- Let dry and hang.
Believe it or not, the hardest part of this for me was locating a star picture! It was hard to find a Christian Christmas coloring book. Most of them were Santa and his elves. That’s okay if it’s just for your family, but Santa has no place on a Sunday school bulletin board. 😉 When I did find a star, it was small, so I enlarged it using our church copier.
I was pleased to have not just a star, but a shiny star for our classroom! 🙂
